Capturing the  Natural History of Tanzania

Tanzania hosts significant biodiversity, including more than 60,000 insect species, over 200 amphibian species, approximately 360 reptile species, 1,112 bird species, 430 mammal species and more than 1700 native tree species. Many of these species are endemic, occurring nowhere else in the world, yet a considerable portion of the country’s biodiversity remains poorly documented. The Natural History Collection Development Programme seeks to address critical gaps in taxonomic expertise, specimen preservation and access to biodiversity data.
